Entry:
Today was a fun day. I got up and checked out of the hotel from hell (I skipped my morning pushups, cause there was no way I was getting down on that floor). I found a Laundromat and did my laundry. By now it was hot out, but I was feeling good about getting the laundry done, and seeing the sun again, so I went to the beach. I took a dip in the ocean (the Atlantic!), marveled at people parking on the beach, and laid out for a while. This was the first time I've lain on the beach since day 1 of this trip. It was heaven. (It was also brutal on my back which was sans sunscreen). Feeling mentally refreshed I decided I liked Daytona (despite the cheesy boardwalk with their own "Space Needle"), and headed off to get some miles taken care of.

Right after crossing into Georgia I decided another dip and maybe a picnic at the beach was in order so I left the interstate to head to the Cumberland National Seashore. Unfortunately (or fortunately considering how burned my back is now) the National Seashore is not a beach, it is however, a beautiful view of water, land, and sea grass so I still had my picnic, and read for awhile in the (much needed) shade of a gazebo. Now I'm confined to my tent because of the pesky yellow flies (which definitely bite). There are zillions of them and they don't seem to care (or notice for that matter) that I've practically bathed myself in 100 percent deet.
